Minds Matter owner wins Aberdeen Business Pitch Competition
ABERDEEN, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Two Aberdeen groups that promote business development in the community combined efforts to sponsor the inaugural Business Pitch Competition.
Business people have always had to make pitches — to get a location, a sales situation started or financing.
With that thought in mind, the Business Pitch Competition was put together by the Northern State University Innovation and Start Up Center along with the Aberdeen Development Corporation.
“It’s really kind of an evolution in the next step. We do a competition currently in Northern State University with a focus on students, but we always wanted to take it to really a community-wide stage,” said Mike Bockorny, CEO of the Aberdeen Development Corporation.
Contest organizers would have been pleased to get a dozen entries but got 23 that were pared down to four finalists to make their “pitch” for the $10,000 first prize. The winner is a year-old company, Minds Matter.
Company owner Tiffany Hoeft reacted to the win and what it means.
“We are so excited. We have an awesome team, and we are really excited to look at expanding and having more therapists working with us because this is a growing need. This will be put to work immediately hiring another therapist for the Aberdeen area,” Hoeft said.
Tiffany went on to explain the area of expertise her company offers.
“We are preventative and restorative, so if you have had an issue, we can help you resolve that, such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, concussions, COVID brain fog, all of those types of things. But we also can deal with people who have Alzheimer’s in the family, and they’re just wondering what’s my baseline. What do I look like right now?” said Hoeft.
The organizers were so pleased with the finalists’ pitches that each of the three runner-up presentations was awarded $1,000.
