Minnesota residents reflect on travels ahead of holidays

DEXTER, Minn. (KTTC) – With millions expected to come home for the holidays, KTTC made a stop along I-90 to hear from travelers on the road for the holidays.

Robert Cummings of Eagan, Minnesota, and Danielle Fischer of Lake Field, Minnesota shared their journeys of heading home for the holidays. Cummings is making the long drive to Chicago to visit family, while Fischer’s journey brings her to Rochester.

“It’s nice to come home and have that home spot that we can all get together,” Fischer said.

According to AAA, around 119 million Americans will be traveling more than 50 miles for the holidays. Cummings will be traveling hundreds of miles to reach his destination, while Fischer will have traveled more than 150 to reach Rochester.

“Being with family, seeing them [and] spending some time with them. Renewing my friendships with my family. I have a good time doing that,” Cummings said.

According to GasBuddy, as of Dec. 16, the average gas price in Minnesota is $2.82 per gallon, while the national average is $3.472 per gallon.
