MLS terminates contract of Sporting KC midfielder following gambling probe

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – Major League Soccer terminated Sporting KC midfielder Felipe Hernandez’s contract after a probe into allegations that he violated the league’s gambling policies for a second time.

In June, Hernandez was placed on leave for accusations of violations of MLS’ gambling integrity rules. He’d previously been investigated for the same allegation after an original suspension for gambling violations in 2021.

“The Leagues’ investigation found no evidence that inside information was shared or that the integrity of any MLS match was compromised,” the league said in a statement shared Wednesday.
