MNF open thread: Lions-49ers gambling lines and picks for tonight’s game

Week 17 wraps up with the final Monday Night Football matchup of the 2024 regular season as the Detroit Lions take on the San Francisco 49ers.

Technically, this game has low stakes as the Lions will be playing for the one-seed next week regardless of what happens tonight and the 49ers have already been eliminated from the playoffs. But you can bet that Dan Campbell’s crew will be looking to avenge last season’s NFC Championship game and send a message to the rest of the league heading into the postseason.

Both teams are heavily injured, especially on defense, so I think the play is to bet the over on this one. As mentioned above, I don’t anticipate the Lions taking the game lightly despite not needing the win and they’re the better team. So, winning by at least four points seems attainable for Detroit.

For the injury report, the Lions have ruled running back David Montgomery (knee) and wide receiver Kalif Raymond (foot) out. Meanwhile, the 49ers will be missing guard Aaron Banks (knee), defensive end Robert Beal Jr. (ankle), guard Spencer Burford (calf), linebacker Dre Greenlaw (calf) and cornerback Charvarius Ward (personal).
