Mobile STEM Lab travels through the mountains
LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) – Rural Up is an Eastern Kentucky-based organization whose goal is to bring high-tech stem programs to the mountains.
To do this they partnered with Learning Undefeated and now have access to a state-of-the-art mobile STEM lab and are doing several camps throughout Eastern Kentucky teaching fifth through eighth-grade students skills they can use in their future careers.
The week-long camps allow students an opportunity to learn communication and teamwork skills, while also learning about the ever-growing stem field.
Families in the mountains have faced many hardships in recent years and officials with Rural Up have the goal of bringing a learning experience to the children of Eastern Kentucky.
The camps will be taking place in Laurel County, Knox County, Clay County, Jackson, and Harlan Counties. The next camp will begin on Monday, July 1 at the Jackson Public Library and spots are still available.
