Mom tells critics to ‘f— off’ over shopping cart etiquette sparks backlash

A mother’s post on social media is gaining a lot of attention after she says “f— off” to people who have a problem with her not returning a shopping cart.

“You can judge me all you want,” she said in her TikTok post before thousands of people did.

Leslie Dodson admitted to the Internet that she doesn’t return a shopping cart to its designated place. It’s a decision she stands by to protect her family.

Instead, it seems Dodson leaves the shopping cart in the parking lot.

Dodson in the video says, “I’m not getting my groceries into my car, getting my children into the car, and then leaving them in the car to return the car.”

The 17-second #protectourchildren post went viral after millions watched it since it was posted last week.

Her take has people fired up.

“If you can get the cart, you can return the cart. Look up the shopping cart theory,” a TikTok user commented.

A mom of three young children responded to Dodson’s clip with some advise.

“I simply unload groceries, return cart WITH kids, and then load them in. Same way that we got out of car. Simple,” wrote the mom.

Dodson noticed the motherly advise and responded, “I want women to feel empowered to trust their intuition if they feel unsafe, and ignore judgment. Risk isn’t worth it and our lives are precious. I have seen lives destroyed. I hope you never don’t.”

Dodson’s response didn’t go unnoticed. It received more than 230 comments.

“The fact this is ur response is laughable. It’s returning a shopping cart. It’s common decency but I guess not everyone has that. Oh nooo women having to put carts back is removing my empowerment,” wrote TikTok user, Sarah S. “I’d love to see the lives destroyed by having common decency and returning a kart. Like come on. Stop making this about women and standing up for us. Ur why women have to fight for respect.”

Since Dodson’s viral post, the mom, who claims she’s single, posted other videos about crime with statistics and the legality of leaving children in the car.

A recent video shows Dodson, who is child-free, returns a shopping cart to the front of the store.
