Monday morning sports: playoffs set

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – The Section 3 football playoffs are upon us, with the seedings and pairings released on Sunday.

They’re good news for nine area teams in search of post-season titles.

In class A, Watertown is the 6th seed. The Cyclones travel to Central Square to play the 3rd seed Redhawks Friday at 6 pm in a rematch of the final game of the regular season.

In class B, Indian River is the 2nd seed. The Wolves host 7th seed Oneida on Friday night with kickoff set for 7 o’clock in Philadelphia.

Staying in class B, Carthage is the 3rd seed. The Comets get a home contest against 6th seed Homer Friday night at 7 o’clock.

In class C, General Brown is the top seed. The Lions will host 8th seed Marcellus Friday night at 7 o’clock in Dexter.

Also in class C, Lowville is the 3rd seed. The Red Raiders get an opening round matchup against 6th seed Cazenovia Friday night at 7 in Lowville.

In class D, Beaver River is the 4th seed. The Beavers will host 5th seed Herkimer Friday night at 7 o’clock in Beaver Falls.

Staying in class D, Sandy Creek is the 6th seed. The Comets hit the road to face 3rd seed Mount Markham Saturday at noon.

In 8 man football, Thousand Islands is the 8th seed. The Vikings are on the road to face top seed Frankfort Schuyler Friday night a 7 o’clock.

And in the Section 3 class B-2 playoffs, South Jefferson is the top seed, looking to defend its title. The Spartans host 4th seed Mexico Wednesday at 7:30 in Adams.
