Monitoring Labor Day travel traffic at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth
Birmingham’s airport will see more than 50 arrivals and departures on Labor Day. AAA expects domestic travel this Labor Day holiday period to be a 9% increase from 2023. A number of arrivals and departures have been delayed at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth.

Airport staff tell us the lines for security and check in have been extremely long at points throughout the holiday and surrounding days as people travel but it comes in waves.

One flier, Donna Kinsler had no issues coming into or out of Birmingham. Kinsler said, “The experience has been great. There was a delay in Atlanta that I didn’t particularly care for but what are you gonna do about it.”
