MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Montgomery firefighters battled a fire at an empty business on Zelda Road early Wednesday morning.

According to Montgomery Fire/Rescue, units were dispatched to the 2600 block of Zelda Road on a possible structure fire. When units arrived on the scene, they were met with smoke and flames from a vacant commercial building and quickly declared a 2nd alarm fire.

MF/R crews mounted a defensive attack with hand lines and aerial ladder systems to bring the fire under control and extinguish it. Primary and secondary searches of the building were conducted, but no people were found. There have been no reports of injuries due to the fire.

WSFA was able to locate the scene and identify it as the former location of Mrs. Winners Chicken & Biscuits.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and no further details are available at this time.
