Morningside University receives $2 million for new School of Business building
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Morningside University will build a new facility for one of its growing programs.
Wednesday, the university announced it received $2 million from alumnus Tom Rosen, who also served on Morningside’s Board of Directors.
With that donation, the university will design and construct a building for its School of Business. The program has about 300 students and plans to add three more majors in the upcoming year.
The school’s current facility, the Lincoln Center, is almost 50 years old. With the number of students in the program, school leaders say the new building is needed.
“Our business program is growing and every year we keep adding new students. We are a little bit space constrained right now and just having a new building that has the space to house all of our students in the school of business with state-of-the-art technology I’m sure will be a welcome change,” said Twyla Rosenbaum, Accounting & Business professor at Morningside University.
The new building will sit between the Science Center and Learning Center, allowing business students to be closer to other academic buildings.
While the design and planning process is just starting, leaders at Morningside say the Lincoln Center will stay and may become a new welcome center.
