Mother-daughter duo builds fitness community for women in El Paso
EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Brenda Rodriguez, known as Nurse B, is a registered nurse, health coach, and co-founder of Balanced Peach, a fitness community in El Paso aimed at empowering women both physically and mentally.
“When I started my journey, fitness wasn’t a thing. There were like two women in El Paso that had muscles,” Rodriguez said. Inspired by this, she told her daughter, “We are gonna have a booty camp in the park.”
Balanced Peach began with small workout sessions attended by 8 to 15 women, but it has since grown to accommodate 60 to 80 participants. The community offers two workout classes on Tuesdays and Sundays.
“My Sunday classes are free. They started free and I want to keep them free,” Rodriguez said. She described the Sunday sessions as intense, focusing on glute exercises with a mix of Pilates and barre. “We are peach-positive here. We have different peaches. Not just perfect ones, some are lumpy, we need to love ourselves.”
Rodriguez emphasized that Balanced Peach is about growth in all aspects of life. “The whole point is that you need to keep moving forward to grow, to be your best version of yourself. Change is good, but it can be scary. But, when you have other women who think like you, have similar goals, it’s just been a great thing,” she said.
“There are some girls that walk in all nervous, not even standing up straight, and now they’re likehey I belong, these are my people,” Rodriguez added. “So, that’s kinda peaches in a nutshell.”
