SAN ANTONIO – The mother who left her three young kids in a hot car over the weekend is out on bond. Police tell us Angela Garza Amador has been charged with three counts of child endangerment.

It happened Friday afternoon in the 16600 block of Highway 281 North. Temperatures reached the upper 90s that day.

Mother of two Karina Fernandez said, “I can see how people can do that on accident. It’s sad.”

Fernandez is giving Amador grace. She says if you don’t have kids, it’s hard to understand just how overwhelming motherhood can be.

“I try to prioritize my kids, and hopefully that never happens,” said Fernandez.

Police say Amador left her kids ranging in age from four to the youngest being only one-month-old in the car for nearly an hour. Thanks to a person passing the vehicle, they noticed the kids in the car and called 911. Amador told police she lost track of time while she shopped.

“I have to put her in first, and then I put her in, and it takes a long time, and you just forget things when you have more kids,” says Fernandez.

While Fernandez says she can’t imagine forgetting her kids in the car, she’s thankful Amador’s kids are okay and hopes their mom is getting the support she needs.

Amador’s bond was set at $25,000.
