MSI today announced that overclockers have pushed both AMD Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” CPUs to their limits on the MEG X670E ACE motherboard, a phenomenal AM5 product that has broken many records since its launch. So far, we had only seen the Ryzen 9000 chips being pushed up to 7 GHz and that was on an entry-level Ryzen 5 9600X chip with just 6-cores. The maximum that we have seen the Ryzen 9 9950X being pushed to was 6.6 GHz during AMD’s own Tech Day but that was just the beginning.

MSI has posted two frequency records on both 16 and 12-core “Zen 5” chips. The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X was overclocked to a staggering 7.45 GHz frequency while the Ryzen 9 9900X was pushed to 7.40 GHz, which is also superb. Both overclock were achieved using LN2 cooling which is the way to go for extreme overclocking.

In addition to the frequency records, MSI also recorded some of the highest performance numbers in Cinebench R23, R20, and R15 on both chips. The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X scored 60,185 points in R23, 23,276 points in R20, and 9341 points in R15 while the Ryzen 9 9900X scored 46,281 points in R23, 18,057 points in R20, and 7203 points in the R15 benchmark. All of these impressive feats have been achieved by renowned overclocked TSAIK from Taiwan.

This is truly an impressive feat for a new CPU that is launching today and shows overclockers and enthusiasts that Zen 5 holds a lot of potential if you’re trying to top the charts in the CPU overclock scene. We look forward to even more record-breaking benchmarks of the Ryzen 9000 CPUs in the coming weeks.
