ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – The popular summer concert series Music on the Mall is back at Edgebrook Shopping Center with shows every Friday through August 30.

Music on the Mall showcases a wide variety of locally and nationally acclaimed musicians from genres ranging from jazz, rock, soul and much more; all at no cost to guests. Shows run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Concerts are held at Center Court near Cora Physical Therapy. Due to limited seating, Edgebrook encourages guests to bring their own lawn chairs and arrive early.

Lucha Cantina, an Edgebrook Merchant, provides food and drink options for concertgoers to purchase. Restaurant owner Josh Binning acts coming each week. He says there is plenty of time before the show starts to walk around and check out everything the shopping center has to offer.

“It’s just a great neighborhood feel throughout the summer at Edgebrook,” Binning says. “It’s easy to get to, it’s comfortable, we have very family-friendly entertainment. If you want to bring the kids out, there’s places for them to run around. You’ve really got room to meet people and talk, and you can meet your friends there. It’s just a really good time for everybody.”

In addition to Lucha Cantina, Cork, Keg & Spirits will also have drinks available for purchase. Concertgoers can also visit the variety of locally owned Edgebrook merchants, including businesses that offer clothing, accessories, personal training, dining and more.

“We like to think it’s a good way to keep people in our neighborhood. Edgebrook is centrally located right in Rockford, and there’s not a lot around it except for a lot of rooftops, there’s a lot of homes and many of those people really make it their community Edgebrook,” Binning says. “The mall itself really tries to be a hub for the community.”
