MVP on whether Triple H is racist, and The Hurt Business’ future

Montel Vontavious Porter is now listed in the “Alumni” section of WWE.com, another reminder that MVP’s latest run with WWE ended last month when his contract expired.

Before we knew that, Porter turned heads with comments he made under an Instagram about the faction he led on-and-off in WWE from 2020-2022, The Hurt Business. In those, he claimed the company’s Chief Creative Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque denied requests to reform The Hurt Business, and affirmed an issue a follower had with how WWE books Black male wrestlers under Triple H’s leadership.

Some took the comments as MVP saying that Triple H is racist. He addressed his statements and how they were received during a virtual signing with K & S WrestleFest recently:

“It made the rounds that MVP said that Triple H was racist. I never said that word. I never said that. Now, my opinion about how he looks at talent of color, that’s a different conversation. But I never said the man was racist.”

“Hulk Hogan is racist. He said it himself. But as far as Triple H, I don’t know that he is and I don’t know what his motivations are but I never said he was racist.”

He also addressed The Hurt Business’ future post-WWE, now that he & Bobby Lashley have joined their former teammate Shelton Benjamin in free agency:

“The Hurt Business is dead, and it was killed off by the powers-that-be at WWE. But I can say this — Myself, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin, we’re talking amongst ourselves about what we want to do going forward.

“I’ll just say, ‘Stay tuned.’ Stay tuned. Me, Bobby, and Shelton have been talking about what we want to do, and again, I’ll say, ‘Stay tuned.’”

Even before their contracts expired, there were reports that Porter & Lashley were planning to reunite with Benjamin in another company — maybe even AEW. During the K & S session, MVP said he believed the fourth member of The Hurt Business, Cedric Alexander, re-signed with WWE.

During the signing, Porter also said that he & Josh Barnett “locked it in” to face Each other at Bloodsport XII on Nov. 24 in Jersey City, New Jersey. When MVP made a surprise appearance at Bloodsport XI, both he and Barnett teased that Porter might not be coming back alone.

Stay tuned indeed.
