My $1M slot machine win makes dating tough — I’m looking for love but women only want a sugar daddy
He has yet to come up triple hearts in life.
Hitting the jackpot would seemingly raise one’s value on the romantic marketplace. However, a Colorado gambling influencer who won a million dollars playing the Las Vegas slots claims that’s not the case — because most of his female prospects just want a “sugar daddy.”
“It’s hard knowing who you can trust with any relationship,” Denver’s Scott Richter, 53, told Kennedy News and Media of his love tribulations, which can be akin to playing romantic roulette.
The father-of-two struck the motherload last year after scoring the grand jackpot of $1,081,106 from a $250 bet in Sin City. He now regularly posts videos of him winning and losing at the machines for his more than 600,000 subscribers on YouTube, where he goes by the moniker “Jackpot King.”
His video of the $1 million slot jackpot, which has been viewed over 1.1 million times, marked the first time an influencer has recorded a win of that caliber. Richter films around two to three times per week and also runs The Big Jackpot app.
Despite going from rags to riches, the minted singleton remains unlucky in love because the only gals interested in him are gold diggers, he revealed.
“Some [women] are probably looking for a sugar daddy or somebody to help them with their gambling, and that’s not really what I’m looking for in a relationship,” the millionaire said. “At times it can be difficult knowing who you can trust or who is genuinely there for you.”
The slot shark says his social media channel is partly to blame, claiming that constantly uploading gambling videos attracts people looking for a dough-mance. During meet-and-greets, he’s often swarmed by opportunists, much like Robert De Niro’s gambling savant in “Casino.”
“I get large crowds at times. I’ll have hundreds of people come to meet and greets and different events that I do,” Richter said. “I have met some women fans and stuff at the casino, but a lot of the people I meet are more gambling-orientated.”
He added, “They have bad addictions and think, ‘This guy’s always in the casino. He’s going to give me money. This is going to be the best, and we’ll be in casinos all day long.’ “
The slot machine maven doesn’t even live like a high-roller, forgoing the mink coats and latest shoes for $80 Sketchers and $40 polo shirts.
“I’m not really a big splurger on myself; I live a very simple life,” said Richter.
However, he said he does enjoy some free perks that come with being a skilled player, including lavish lobster banquets and even tickets to the Super Bowl and Formula One races on occasion.
Over the years, Richter has gotten adept at differentiating the potential soulmates from those whose interest in him runs only skin-deep.
“I can tell if somebody’s like that,” he said. “If you meet somebody and they’re asking you just to gamble or give them money to gamble with and hang out, it’s pretty obvious.
“I’m not looking to date people who I meet from them seeing me on my social media channels; that’s not where I’m looking for people.”
And Richter hasn’t let the hordes of gambling groupies discourage him from trying to find lady luck.
“It would definitely be nice to have somebody to celebrate my wins with or console me when I’m losing,” the Coloradan slot savant said. “I think some people are obviously looking for money, though I’ve met other ladies who have money, too.”
Despite being on the road 20 days per month, Richter is not looking for a “long-distance” relationship or fly-by-night flings.
“I’m busy but if there’s somebody I like and care about, I’m going to make time to make it work,” he said.
