Nashville Predators, FanDuel Sports Network to simulcast three games on NewsChannel 5
The Nashville Predators have announced a simulcast partnership with Nashville’s NewsChannel 5 and FanDuel Sports Network to broadcast three games in November and December for free over the air.
The partnership is through Scripps Sports and will allow 2.5 million viewers in the Nashville area free access to the following Predators games:
- Saturday, Nov. 30 at Minnesota Wild (7 p.m. CT)
- Saturday, Dec. 14 at Colorado Avalanche (8 p.m. CT)
- Friday, Dec. 27 at St. Louis Blues (7 p.m. CT)
The simulcast will broadcast the FanDuel Sports Network feed on NewsChannel 5, including a 30-minute pre-game show for the Dec. 14 and Dec. 27 games.
All three games will also be available on FanDuel Sports Network as well as the FanDuel Sports App.
In June, The Tennessean reported the Predators were exploring alternate options for television broadcasts amid the bankruptcy proceedings for Diamond Sports Group, the owner of FanDuel Sports Network (formerly Bally Sports Network). Among the options included a free, over-the-air broadcast option for Nashville area viewers.
Last week, Diamond Sports Group’s bankruptcy restructuring program was approved by a court, alleviating fears that FanDuel Sports Network would be unable to continue broadcasting rights held for regional sports teams. This followed a renewed carriage agreement between FanDuel Sports Network and Comcast Xfinity in July.
FanDuel Sports Network owns broadcast rights to 72 Predators games this season.
