Nebraska State Patrol arrests 47 impaired drivers as summer travel season begins

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested 47 impaired drivers so far this summer during the statewide “Make It Click” campaign.

The “Make It Click” campaign ran from May 20 through June 2. During the effort, troopers and dispatchers worked overtime to keep Nebraska roadways safe as travel ramped up around Memorial Day weekend.

During the campaign, troopers made 47 arrests for driving under the influence. Troopers also issued 955 citations for speeding, 40 for not wearing a seat belt, 12 for improper child restraint, 87 for driving under a suspended license, 24 for having an open alcohol container and 21 for a minor in possession of alcohol.

Nebraska State Patrol said troopers also assisted 439 motorists in need of help during the campaign.

Throughout the summer months, NSP encourages all travelers to practice safe driving on Nebraska roadways. NDOT says it is important to always drive sober, follow posted speed limits, eliminate distractions and wear your seat belt.
