Netflix’s newest animated series, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, which boasts a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, now has an additional accomplishment under its belt: Being on the streaming platform’s Top 10 list this week. A sequel to Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, the new series follows the same cast of characters many years later, uncovering a conspiracy surrounding the death of one of their friends. Chaos Theory has been praised for having a more mature story and deeper characterization, currently holding a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes based on five reviews as of writing.

Now, Netflix has revealed Jurassic World: Chaos Theory has made it onto the platform’s Top 10 TV shows for the week of May 20 through May 26, 2024. The series falls at Number 6 on the list, with 15 million hours viewed across 3.8 million viewers. While these numbers aren’t as massive as other successful shows on the streaming service, they showcase a core interest in the new series regardless.

Why Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Is Already A Netflix Success

The success of Netflix’s animated Jurassic World series isn’t surprising, as the show is a sequel to a pre-existing series that ended after season 5. Given how long Camp Cretaceous ran for, it makes sense that its follow-up would also maintain a noticeable level of success. It’s no doubt interesting to see how the show has evolved as well, with the main cast now older and one of them seemingly deceased when the story begins. It teases a darker story that will still remain true to the mood of the original show.

The biggest mystery surrounds how Brooklynn seemingly died prior to the events of the series, possibly connected to a conspiracy that brings dinosaurs back into everyone’s lives. Because of how compelling the new setup is, it’s likely many viewers wanted to see how Chaos Theory season 1 ends to understand the extent of the characters’ new situation. Since there’s plenty of storylines from the original that can be continued in this new series, some viewers may have been interested in seeing the characters growing up too.

Interest in the show could also be influenced by the ongoing production of the forthcoming Jurassic World 4, scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 2, 2025. The show could contain some clues as to what can be expected in the upcoming movie, driving higher viewership for the series. Given the popularity of the franchise, though, it wouldn’t be surprising if Jurassic World: Chaos Theory continues to stay on Netflix’s Top 10 chart in the weeks to come.
