Nevada sees slight increase in unemployment rate in June, adds hospitality jobs

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) is reporting a slight increase in unemployment rates, according to new June numbers.

In the department’s June 2024 economic report, DETR notes a 0.1 percentage increase in the Nevada unemployment rate, with the state seeing an increase of 2,300 nonfarm jobs.

Here in Las Vegas, employment decreased by 2,000 jobs, which is -0.2 percentage points since May, and has seen an increase of 36,300 jobs since June 2023.

Additionally, Reno has seen an increase of 600 jobs since May while Carson City employment had a decrease of 100 jobs.
