New million development set to generate jobs in Hardeeville

HARDEEVILLE, Sc. (WTOC) – A new $14 million investment is coming to Hardeeville set to create about 150 jobs.

But, this major development isn’t the only thing the mayor said locals can look forward to.

With all of this new development coming to the area, Hardeeville’s mayor said his main priority is to make sure this city is not only a place people come to work, but a place they choose to live.

“Bottom line, our responsibly to our residents is quality of life,” said Hardeeville Mayor Harry Williams.

That’s the main message Hardeeville Mayor Harry Williams shared mostly because he says all of this industrial growth comes from a population boost.

“We expect probably between 1,200 to 1,500 single family home permits to be issued this year,” said Mayor Williams.

If Hardeeville hits those numbers, Mayor Williams said it will be a record.

Now, the city is looking at ways to build affordable housing.

“Teachers, police, fire, tradesman, they need affordable housing,” said Mayor Williams.

As the city grows, companies like Unified Resources are joining Hardeeville Commerce Park and bringing jobs with it.

“This brings a whole new element for our young people to get jobs and a better life,” said Mayor Williams.

With more households coming to the area, Mayor Williams said that will lead to even more businesses.

“In the next five years your going to see a tremendous growth in the commercial side of development in the city,” said Mayor Williams.

Overall, the mayor is hopeful for the city’s future.

“We want Hardeeville, at the end of the day, that people are going to say, and proudly, I live in Hardeeville, South Carolina,” said Mayor Williams.
