New CDL program to help students get jobs in workforce in Spartanburg County

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Spartanburg County and Spartanburg Community College (SCC) are teaming up to support a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program.

Officials said the program is designed to address the growing demand for skilled truck drivers in Spartanburg County.

A CDL is required to operate heavy equipment for road construction.

With an almost 95% placement rate for its graduates, SCC’s CDL program provides a straight path into the workforce. Students can walk right off campus and onto the workforce floor, full trained and prepared for the job ahead.

With new penny tax to help fix county roads, county officials said there is a need for workers for the penny projects.
