New Cycle for U.S. Under-17 Women’s Youth National Team Kicks Off with Training Camp for 2008 Birth Year Players Ahead of 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup
CHICAGO (Sept. 17, 2024) – With the 2024 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup set to kick off in mid-October in the Dominican Republic, the next cycle for the U.S. U-17s will commence in Fayetteville, Ga., future home of the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center, as 24 players born in 2008 come to a training camp running from Sept. 22-28.
This camp starts a new cycle leading into the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which marks the beginning of FIFA instituting an annual World Cup for U-17 women which will be held in Morocco for the next five years. Players eligible for next year’s U-17 WWC must be born on or after Jan. 1, 2008.
U.S. U-15 WYNT head coach Ciara Crinion will lead the camp with U.S. U-16 WYNT head coach Patchy Toledo and U.S. U-17 WYNT head coach Katie Schoepfer, who is in the final stages of preparations to bring her current squad to the DR, serving as assistant coaches.
The players come from 20 different youth clubs with the So Cal Blues SC, San Diego Surf SC, Utah Celtic FC and Penn Fusion Soccer Academy each having two players on the roster. Seventeen players selected come from ECNL clubs and seven are from clubs in the Girls Academy.
