New Denmark’s 2025 Gambling Regulations From 01 January!
Effective January 1, 2025, Denmark’s gambling landscape will undergo significant regulatory changes. Suppliers seeking to offer games to licensed gambling operators must secure a license from the Danish Gambling Authority. This initiative aims to enhance oversight and ensure compliance with rigorous standards, marking a pivotal moment in the industry’s evolution.
Streamlined Application Process
From September 1, 2024, the Danish Gambling Authority will begin accepting applications. Prospective game suppliers can access detailed guidance materials and necessary forms via the Authority’s official website. These resources, including the Application for Licence as a Game Supplier (Form 2-06) and accompanying appendices, provide clear instructions for navigating the licensure process.
Visit the “Game Suppliers” section under “For Businesses and Associations” to access comprehensive information regarding the application process. Here, you will find essential guidance, and application forms such as the Supplier Licence Guidance, Application Form 2-06, Appendix A (Personal Statement, Form 2-02), Appendix B-2 (Technical Conditions, Form 2-08), and Appendix C (Declaration from Representative, Form 2-04).
Before games can be supplied to operators, the Danish Gambling Authority mandates that game suppliers’ offerings undergo comprehensive testing and inspection. Accredited testing companies will assess games, platforms, business procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This rigorous certification process is integral to maintaining industry integrity and consumer trust.
Scheduled for implementation on January 1, 2025, the revised certification program represents a significant overhaul. It delineates distinct responsibilities for operators and game suppliers, fostering transparency and accountability within the industry. Stakeholders can anticipate updates and consultations on the program in mid-July, providing clarity during the transition period.
Introducing the Games Register
Alongside these regulatory reforms, the Danish Gambling Authority will introduce the “Games Register,” slated to launch on October 1, 2024. This dedicated portal will streamline the management of game certificates, facilitating a seamless integration into the application process for prospective suppliers. The Games Register aims to enhance efficiency and transparency in regulatory compliance.

During the transition, existing game certificates and certifications under the current program will remain valid until July 1, 2025. However, stakeholders are encouraged to adopt the updated certification program at their earliest convenience to align with forthcoming regulatory requirements. This proactive approach ensures continuity and compliance within the evolving regulatory framework.
Denmark’s upcoming regulatory changes underscore a commitment to strengthening oversight and regulatory compliance within the gambling industry. By implementing new licensing requirements, streamlining application processes, and updating certification programs, the Danish Gambling Authority aims to foster a fair and secure gambling environment for operators and consumers alike.
These reforms are designed to uphold industry standards while accommodating technological advancements and consumer preferences. Stakeholders are encouraged to engage with the Danish Gambling Authority’s resources and support mechanisms to navigate these changes effectively. For further guidance or inquiries regarding the application process or regulatory updates, stakeholders are advised to contact the Danish Gambling Authority directly.
As Denmark prepares for these transformative measures, stakeholders can anticipate a more structured and accountable gambling sector that prioritizes integrity and consumer protection. The collaborative efforts between regulators, operators, and suppliers will play a crucial role in shaping the future of gambling regulation in Denmark.
