New ‘Jurassic World’ star Scarlett Johansson receives surprise message from Jeff Goldblum
Jeff Goldblum found a way to perfectly welcome Scarlett Johansson to the “Jurassic World” family.
Dr. Ian Malcolm himself had a surprise video message on July 8 on TODAY for the “Black Widow” actor during her interview with Savannah Guthrie.
“Dr. Johansson, this is Jeff Goldblum,” he said. “Here’s what I want to say to you. This I know: Scarlett will find a way.”
“Oh, no way!” a surprised Johansson said while viewing his message.
“Don’t get eaten, unless you want to,” Goldblum joked before blowing her a kiss. “I love you.”
Johansson, 39, has joined the cast of the dinosaur-themed blockbuster franchise for a sequel being filmed in Thailand that’s expected to be released next year.
Goldblum, 71, who starred in the original “Jurassic Park” in 1993 and later in three additional installments of the series, used one of his signature lines to welcome Johansson to the franchise.
In the original “Jurassic Park,” Goldblum’s character famously says, “Life finds a way” when talking about the possibility of the dinosaurs reproducing.
“Oh, my gosh, I can’t believe Jeff actually said that to me,” Johansson said. “I mean, I think my life is complete now. I can retire now.”
Johansson, who currently stars in the romantic comedy “Fly Me to the Moon” with Channing Tatum, recalled seeing the first “Jurassic Park” when she was a kid. The Steven Spielberg-directed blockbuster was one of the biggest movies of the early 1990s.
“I have to say, the first ‘Jurassic Park,’ it’s one of the first movies I remember seeing in the theater,” she said. “I was probably, like, 10 or 11, and it was absolutely transformative for me. We had never seen anything like that, CGI used in that way, and when you see it, it still holds up. It looks so great.”
