New manufacturing facility in Jackson, Mo. to create 50 jobs

JACKSON, Mo. (KFVS) – A new manufacturing facility is expected to create 50 new jobs in the region.

According to a news release, Trussworks Mid-America, LLC, a truss manufacturer, broke ground for the $5 million facility on Monday, April 22.

Construction of the new facility is expected to begin as soon as possible, with the opening set for later in 2024.

“We are excited to embark on this expansion journey and to establish our new facility in Jackson,” Steve Stroder, president & CEO of Trussworks Mid-America, LLC, said in the release. “With the support of the Missouri Department of Economic Development, local authorities, and our dedicated team, we are confident in our ability to drive success and contribute positively to the local economy. This investment underscores our commitment to delivering exceptional products to our customers while creating jobs and opportunities for the community.”

The Missouri Department of Economic Development approved Trussworks for the Missouri Works program. According to the release, this will allow the company to benefit from a retention of new Missouri payroll taxes for five years.

In addition, Trussworks will be located in the Cape Girardeau County Enhanced Enterprise Zone, which provides a 50 percent real property tax abatement for 10 years with the creation of new jobs.

“We are thrilled to welcome Trussworks to the region and to witness their substantial investment in our community,” Jackson Mayor Dwain Hahs, said in the release. “This project not only signifies confidence in our workforce and infrastructure but also demonstrates our commitment to fostering a thriving business ecosystem. We look forward to the positive impact Trussworks will have on our local economy, including the significant sales tax revenue it is expected to generate for Jackson.”

According to the release, the project also received a $787,812 grant from the Community Development Block Grant program to build and improve public infrastructure, including streets, water distribution, stormwater and sanitary sewer.

The company says the new facility will help Trussworks meet the growing demand for its products while providing employment opportunities in the region.

“We are encouraged to see this significant investment and job creation by Trussworks in southeast Missouri,” Shad Burner, management consultant for SE MO REDI, said. “This expansion will not only bolster Jackson’s local economy but also reaffirm our attractiveness for business growth and development. This project perfectly highlights the collaborative efforts among business leaders, government officials, and SE MO REDI to drive sustained prosperity in our region.”

According to its website, SE MO REDI is a regional organization focused on creating “a more vibrant economic future for southeast Missouri.”
