New Orleans Senior Fest spreads information, fun on Friday at the UNO arena

Senior Fest comes to the Lakefront Arena Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with more than three dozen vendors, activities and information for those over 60.

Sponsored by the city and the New Orleans Council on Aging under the title “Fantastic Voyage,” the event includes a talent show, second line, line-dancing contest and lunch. The fest is part of Older Americans Month observances.

Vendors will cover a variety of services and information important to older citizens, including healthcare, transportation, fraud prevention, nutrition and food, emergency services, legal services, housing and more.

City officials and departments also will be on hand providing information on services and resources.

Organizers anticipate up to 700 seniors will attend the event at the UNO arena at Franklin Avenue and Lake Pontchartrain.
