Wittmann residents fear they can’t stop massive BNSF railroad project
Fearing they can’t stop BNSF’s $3.2 billion development that would surround their equestrian neighborhood, Wittmann residents want to offer input.
New owner RED Development has announced upcoming retailing themes, along with events and development possibilities at Biltmore Fashion Park, which the company acquired in full earlier this year.
Some of the changes on tap include new residences, upscale hotel accommodations and office space, with the possibility of a highrise on the corner of 24th Street and Camelback Road on a space currently used as a parking lot. RED is the fourth owner in the history of the Biltmore Fashion Park, which was constructed in the early 1960s. Other upgrades include improved landscaping and enhanced lighting in the shopping center.
RED acquired the 50% of Biltmore Fashion Park that it didn’t own from longtime partner Macerich Co., which is using the proceeds to pay off $110 million in debt. The deal was announced in late July. Macerich owns many of the biggest malls around metro Phoenix, including Scottsdale Fashion Square, Chandler Fashion Center, Desert Sky Mall in Phoenix, Superstition Springs Center in Mesa, Kierland Commons in Scottsdale and Arrowhead Towne Center in Glendale.
Macerich listed Biltmore Fashion Park as 93% leased as of the end of 2023 in its annual report.
The shopping center is anchored by department store Macy’s, Life Time and Saks Fifth Avenue. The property features over 65 specialty retailers, including Anthropologie, J.Crew, Gorjana, Ralph Lauren, Lululemon, Rye 51, Pottery Barn and Sephora. Restaurants include Capital Grille, Blanco Cocina + Cantina, Zinburger, Ambrogio15 and True Food Kitchen.
New or upcoming tenants include eyewear company Warby Parker, tailoring and men’s suit boutique Apex Tailoring, activewear retailer PILLAR and Rye 51, a menswear store.
Upcoming events include a Lululemon Community Run on Nov. 17 from 9 to 10 a.m., visits with Santa from Nov. 21 to Dec. 24 (daily, but hours vary), and a Menorah Lighting on Dec. 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. Visit ShopBiltmore.com for more information.
Also, a grand opening party for PILLAR with entertainment, including an appearance by the Arizona Cardinals cheerleaders and bites from POMO Pizzeria, is scheduled for Nov. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m.
RED recently located its headquarters to the Biltmore property. Its other local properties include PV, the redevelopment of the former Paradise Valley Mall, and the Grove along the Camelback Corridor.
