New survey released on AI and small businesses
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Reese Witherspoon recently made headlines at PaleyFest (a premiere TV festival) for her response to claims AI is poised to replace human workers. The actress and production company owner said, “AI is not coming for your job, people who know how to use AI are coming for your job. So, learn about it.”
New research backs her claim, and not just for Hollywood enterprises and big corporations. A new Cox Business survey reveals the majority of small business owners and employees view the new technology as a tool to strengthen and grow their teams. The survey revealed:
- 52% of small business owners say AI enables them to increase or retain employees
- 65% of small business employees say the same
Small businesses are experiencing tangible results with AI tools and are increasing spending to further help their organizations boost profitability, productivity and the customer experience this year.
- Two-thirds of small business owners say they invested in AI in 2023
- 53% plan to invest even more in 2024
But managing the implementation of AI, and keeping up with its ever-evolving technology, may present a hurdle for small business owners, especially considering 76% don’t plan on offering AI training courses for employees this year.
