VivoAquatics data shows that over half of gym-goers value access to pools
As fitness enthusiasts seek comprehensive amenities in their workout facilities, a new survey from VivoAquatics sheds light on a crucial feature: swimming pools. The data highlights that nearly 60% of gym-goers consider access to a pool a priority when choosing a fitness center, ranking it as the second most important feature after high-quality exercise equipment.
The survey found that over 56% of respondents use their fitness center’s pool on a weekly basis, indicating a clear demand for this amenity. Consequently, maintaining proper operational standards for pool management is important for member satisfaction.
“These findings show that gym-goers place significant value on access to a pool, making effective water management important for gym owners and managers,” said Richard Lindhorn, vice president of marketing and corporate development for VivoAquatics. “With the right technology, owners and managers can access real-time data on water quality, temperature, and chemical balance from any location. This allows for quick identification and resolution of any safety issues.”
While most respondents reported satisfaction with the sanitation and maintenance of their gym’s pool, approximately 24% experienced unexpected pool closures. Additionally, 47.15% stated they had not received detailed information about pool sanitation or safety from their fitness center, highlighting an area for improvement in communication.
“By taking a proactive approach to pool management, fitness centers can reduce the risk of waterborne illnesses and other issues that may lead to pool closures,” Lindhorn noted. “It can also be beneficial for owners and managers to communicate their water quality standards to members, providing insight into the systems in place and fostering confidence.”
