New Totoro, Spirited Away & Kiki Passport Cases Allow Ghibli Fans to Travel in Style

Official Studio Ghibli store Donguri Sora has added to its current offerings with crafted passport cases inspired by the classic films My Neighbour Totoro, Spirited Away and Kiki’s Delivery Service. Priced at an affordable rate, these cases look to be the perfect addition to any anime fan’s next adventure.

While Ghibli aficionados’ next travels will likely see them sitting in run-of-the-mill airplanes as opposed to a Catbus, magical broomstick or even mysterious train, they can still bring along the studio’s unique sense of magic with these passport cases. Themed after some of the prolific studio’s most famous works, each is finished in a leather-like PVC material with a charm on the bottom right representing their respective works. The cases also feature multiple pockets to store various cards, as well as a specially themed inner lining.

A beloved film from the early years of Hayao Miyazaki’s career pre-Studio Ghibli will have a special one-time screening later this month in Japan.

My Neighbor Totoro’s Passport Case Will Have Fans Flying Into the Sky-Blue Horizon

The My Neighbour Totoro edition is light blue with an emblem of Chu Totoro on the go with the sack they are often seen with slung over their shoulder. The case’s inner lining features acorns, leaves and mushrooms, evoking the forest set adventure Satsuki and Mei embark on in the 1988 classic. The inside features two hot-stamped Susuwatari, or Soot Sprites, who also appear in Spirited Away and were featured prominently in Ghibli’s collaboration with high fashion house Loewe in 2023.

Ghibli’s Kiki’s Delivery Service Passport Case Promises Mystical Adventure With Jiji

Taking cues from Kiki’s bow, the Kiki’s Delivery Service edition is finished in a bright red and features a charm of her faithful companion, Jiji the talking cat, this time wearing her bow as a collar. The inner lining features symbols such as a picture of Jiji, a cat’s paw, a moon, and a witch on her broomstick with a cat in tow. The symbol of the broom-riding witch is replicated on the inner hot stamp, now framed with a circle and Kiki’s name at the bottom.

Spirited Away’s No-Face Passort Case Is All About Understated & Sophisticated Style

Last but not least, the Spirited Away variant comes in simple black with a charm of Chihiro’s mysterious guide and companion Kaonashi, or No-Face. The inner lining sees the return of the Soot Sprites, this time accompanied by the bath tokens used at the magical bathhouse. The hot-stamp is of the “oil” logo that flies on a flag at the entrance to the bathhouse — a reference to the various aromatic oils that are mixed into the bath water. Each passport case is priced at 2,970 yen (~US$19).

People often refer to Studio Ghibli as the Disney of the West, and if nothing else, the sheer amount of Ghibli merchandise is a testament to this moniker. Aside from the aforementioned collaboration with Loewe, a range of items can readily fulfill fans’ daily needs — plus some extra wants. Recently, the studio released “Crystal Art” jigsaw puzzles themed after My Neighbour Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service. This year has also seen the re-release of a special-edition clock commemorating the 25th anniversary of Whisper of the Heart that previously sold out in 2020. For those after more practical goods, branded items like pillowcases and other general home products are likewise available.
