New ‘Valorant’ Agent Vyse Can Lock Your Guns In Metal Thorns
Riot Games has revealed the new Valorant agent known as Vyse, who can control liquid metal and create thorn traps using it that will impact both you and your primary weapon.
Vyse is the 26th agent in Valorant and was revealed earlier today. She is a sentinel, but features some abilities that aren’t traditionally associated with the role, such as a flash which seems to be quite strong. With her ability to control liquid metal, which seems like a weird power to have but it at least looks cool, she can send traps out into the world to try and catch out enemy players.
Vyse is set to launch on August 28 as part of the next major Valorant patch. She joins an already stacked roster of agents that has had some interesting additions over recent months, although some have proven quite problematic.
Her Arc Rose ability allows you to target a surface and plant a rose on it, or if you alt fire you can place it on the other side of the surface, essentially allowing you to place it through walls. Then, when activated by Vyse, it will blind any enemies looking at it, essentially becoming a remote detonated flash that can be placed through walls.
Her Shear ability has a similar design in that you can place it on a wall and wait for it to activate. When an enemy player walks past the wall trap, a metal wall is build behind them which is impassable. The idea here is that when the first enemy walks through, they become separated from their team and are instantly out of position.
Her Razorvine ability sees you place a metal nest on the floor, which when activated will spread out into a massive thorn trap that will slow and damage any player that walks through it. It looks to have a massive area of effect, so this could end up being very strong.
Her ultimate is Steel Garden, and this time you do not have to deploy a trap on a surface. Instead, Vyse channels the liquid through her hands and sends out metal thorns that will jam the primary weapon of enemies close by. This will force them to use their pistol, and should allow your team to take some easy fights.
Vyse’s design is a little different to most sentinels, but with the Valorant meta shifting in recent months to be less focused on her role and more on duelists, she looks to be the perfect counter to aggressive players who have been having too much fun recently.
