New Yorker claims M Mega Millions lottery prize

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A New Yorker has stepped up to claim a $1 million Mega Millions prize, according to New York Lottery officials.

Adam Terzuoli, of Washingtonville, in Orange County, has claimed a $1,000,000 second prize for matching the first five Mega Millions numbers drawn on Sept. 10, lottery officials announced.

The winning numbers for that evening were: 01 02 16 24 66 Mega Ball (06).

Terzuoli received a single lump sum payment of $651,001, after required withholdings, the announcement said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Gulf Express located at 986 Little Britain Rd. in New Windsor.

It was also recently announced that someone from California has won Friday’s $1.22 billion jackpot.

And in New Jersey, an anonymous winner of a $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot sold in the Garden State nine months ago recently stepped forward to claim the record prize, officials said.

The cash option is about $549.7 million.

According to the game’s official website, the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.

New York’s Mega Millions game generated $441,182,494 in total sales during fiscal year 2023-2024, according to New York Lottery officials.

The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable lottery, contributing $3.8 billion in fiscal year 2023-2024 to benefit public schools in New York state, lottery officials said.
