NFIB Recognizes Lawmakers as Guardians of Small Business | NFIB

NFIB awarded 269 members of Congress as Guardians of Small Business

What it means: The legislators named Guardians of Small Business have proven that they can be counted on to vote with small business on key issues.

Our take: “We are proud to recognize the lawmakers from the 118th Congress who stood up for Main Street by taking pro-small business votes that would reduce taxes, eliminate burdensome government mandates, lower health insurance costs, and fuel the Main Street economy.” – NFIB President Brad Close

NFIB’s prestigious Guardian of Small Business Award is reserved for legislators who vote consistently with small business on the key issues identified by small business owners. A total of 269 members of Congress were recognized as Guardians of Small Business during the 118th Congress.

NFIB holds members of Congress accountable by notifying them of designated Key Votes and tracking whether each legislator votes with America’s small businesses. 52 U.S. Senators and 217 U.S. Representatives earned the award by voting with small business 70% or more of the time during the 118th Congress.

The results of NFIB’s federal-level one member, one vote balloting system inform NFIB’s policy positions and the legislation that NFIB designates a Key Vote. All NFIB members can vote on the issues that matter to their small business in the newly launched ballot.

This information is regularly published in NFIB’s How Congress Voted reports to provide a clear record of legislators’ votes on small business issues. See if your lawmaker made the list and keep this in mind when you vote in the 2024 election.
