Charles MacDonald and I just did our latest mock draft for Yahoo Sports, and we’re going to go over a couple of our favorite picks of this mock draft that totally matters, right?
I’m going to go with the number 9 selection, that is the Saints taking Malachi Starks from the University of Georgia as safety, because if you watch the Saints this year, struggle with some tackling, especially on the back end, struggle with a lot of botches on the back end.
I respect the hell out of Tyrann Matthew, but maybe his better years are behind him.
So this is why the Saints are going with the dynamic Malchii Starks, who does a little bit of everything for Georgia, can defend tight ends, defend receivers, can defend the run, can play on the back end.
I think he’s a perfect fit for this type of defense, the type of personnel that they need, and he’s just a very good player.
That’s why he’s my favorite selection in this top 10.
I’m going to go with the pick for Will Campbell to the Cleveland Browns for our selection.
They trade down to 6, swap picks for the Raiders.
I think this makes a whole lot of sense.
Because when you look at the future outlook for the Cleveland Browns, what do they need?
They need to hit singles.
They just need to get on base, you know, because you’re facing a long rebuild back to the other side once you get through this John Watson contract.
They’ve had some offensive line issues anyway.
Um, Dedrick Wills, the draft in the first round a few years ago, has been often injured and when he’s in the lineup hasn’t been uh probably quite what they hoped for.
They still have a couple of pieces on the offensive line, but I, I think that that future left tackle is still something they’re trying to find.
Uh, and if you can get that, that’s a start to uh rebuilding your roster in the post Deshaun Watson era, where he’ll still be on the team and still making a whole bunch of money.
