NFL rates big, Luck’s new gig, MLB revenue share: Sports Playbook

Coming off the Thanksgiving holiday, there’s plenty to discuss in the world of sports between NFL ratings, the MLB post-season, and even new hiring in the NCAA.

NFL Thanksgiving Day ratings

This year’s Thanksgiving Day games brought in high ratings. The game in particular that’s drawing most attention is the Cowboys vs. Giants game which aired on Fox (FOX) and averaged averaged 38.5 million viewers during the broadcast. It is projected to be the most-watched NFL telecast this season, according to Fox Sports PR.

Andrew Luck named new GM of Stanford Football

Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback and Stanford alum Andrew Luck has become the new general manager of the Cardinal football program. This is a new role where Luck will oversee both football operations as well as the business side of the program.

MLB playoffs’ revenue sharing pool

Major League Baseball recently released its post-season revenue-sharing numbers with the bonus pool racing a record $129.1 million, which is up from last year’s pool of $107.8 million, according to AP.
