NFL world reacts to Bears’ first win vs. Packers since 2018

Holding a 21-19 lead late in the fourth quarter, the Chicago Bears appeared poised to upset the rival Green Bay Packers. All they had to do was take time off the clock — and hold on to the ball. But in typical Bears fashion, a DJ Moore fumble gave the Packers an opportunity to take the lead, which they capitalized on.

With the Bears down by one point in the final minute of the game, memories of their first matchup came to mind — with the offense getting the ball back and Caleb Williams driving the team down the field and setting up a game-winning field goal attempt by Cairo Santos, which was blocked in a 20-19 loss.

This time, Williams and the Bears had a chance to end their current 10-game losing streak and 11-game losing streak overall to the Packers.

It was very much a surprising game from the standpoint that the Bears had nothing to play for while Green Bay was fighting for playoff positioning. A great punt return design for Josh Blackwell’s touchodwn and D’Andre Swift’s first touchdown run since Week 11 gave the Bears a 14-13 halftime lead, while the Packers lost wide receiver Christian Watson and quarterback Jordan Love to injury early in the game.

With Malik Willis under center for Green Bay, the Bears had ample opportunities to put a stamp on their lead, which they held throughout the entirety of the game. Only their fifth win of the season, the Bears were propelled by their defense and special teams in the first half, and the offense did just enough in the second half to secure the win.

Visions of their first meeting with Green Bay came back for the Bears, who needed a field goal to win the game. Williams found DJ Moore for an 18-yard reception that led to a game-winning 51-yard field goal by Cairo Santos, who got revenge from their first meeting when his game-winning attempt was blocked by the Packers.

Here’s how Bears fans and the NFL world reacted to the franchise’s first win over the Packers since 2018:
