Nick Camino named main sports anchor at 3News

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Nick Camino has been named the main sports anchor at 3News. He replaces Jim Donovan, who retired in June after 39 years at Cleveland’s NBC affiliate.

“This is literally a dream come true for me and my family,” said Camino in a press release. “Growing up in Northeast Ohio, sports and our Cleveland teams have always been a part of who I am. It all feels quite fitting that Channel 3 was the station we grew up with, always on in our home.”

He added, “Getting an opportunity to work alongside Jimmy the past five and a half years in our WKYC Sports Department is something I will always cherish and forever be grateful for.

“I am super excited to help carry on a tradition of excellence that has already been built in our sports department here and you can trust that we will continue to deliver the very latest in sports in a respected, fun and innovative way,” he said.

Camino is no stranger to WKYC viewers, joining the station in 2019 after working at WTAM-AM 1100. He’ll anchor WKYC’s sports coverage on its weekday newscasts at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. while splitting duties with Jay Crawford on the 6 p.m. broadcast.

Camino will continue hosting his Sunday late-night program, “Sports Tonight,” on WKYC, too.

“Nick Camino is Northeast Ohio,” said news director Jonathan Adkins. “In his nearly two decades of sports coverage, Nick has established himself as a go-to voice for local sports enthusiasts. Nick not only reports the stories, but he also lives them.”
