Nick Cannon surprises with candid Diddy party confessions

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Nick Cannon was only 16 years old when he went to his first Sean “Diddy” Combs party.

The now-44-year-old Wild ‘N Out star made jaws drop when he revealed that surprising fact during the Friday, October 11 episode of The Breakfast Club podcast. After going over some news about the disgraced rapper, 54 — like his trial being set for May 5, 2025 — the conversation turned to who had been to a Diddy party.

Loren LoRosa admitted she had attended a few Diddy parties in Los Angeles, while co-hosts DJ Envy and Charlamagne tha God swore they’d never been to one. Cannon couldn’t believe the latter two had never been to even a Bad Boy [Records] event, sharing, “I’ve even been at one when I was a kid — like 16, 17.”

The admission shocked everyone else on the podcast, but Cannon just quipped, “I live my truth.” He went on to liken the Diddy parties to the “One More Chance” music video from late rapper The Notorious B.I.G.. “Bad Boy parties was official in New York in the late ’90s” he added, while the rest of the podcast broke out into shocked laughter.

“Everybody gets scared to talk because they probably got something to hide,” Cannon said, seemingly referring to people who want to distance themselves from Diddy right now. “I ain’t got nothing to hide. I was in there Harlem Shaking,” he added.

LoRosa cosigned Cannon’s statement that she hadn’t seen anything damning, adding, “I’ve been to a couple of ’em [parties], but I’ve never been to the crazy stuff. I told y’all that. I have nothing to hide.”

“I think it’s unfair that we are classifying a good party with a ‘freak off,'” Cannon said, as the co-hosts joked about partygoers drinking “that brown dot CÎROC.” The “freak off” parties they mentioned refer to a section of Diddy’s 14-page indictment, which details events where the rapper allegedly “used force” to “cause victims to engage in extended sex acts with male commercial sex workers that Combs arranged, directed, masturbated during, and often electronically recorded.”

The father of 12 went on to shock the podcasters again when he revealed he “was at a Diddy party sober.” Despite their disbelief, Cannon said, “That’s the thing. I don’t drink. I don’t do drugs… I’m on my life sober. I’ve never been drunk in my life.” Cannon, who has long been friends with Diddy (whom he still calls “Puff”), famously has a large brood.

The radio and TV personality shares Moroccan and Monroe, 13, with ex-wife Mariah Carey; Golden Sagon, 7, Rise Messiah, 1, and Powerful Queen, 3, with Brittany Bell; twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir, 3, and Beautiful Zeppelin, 1, with Abby De La Rosa; Legendary Love, 2, with Bre Tiesi; Onyx Ice, 2, with LaNisha Cole, and daughter Halo Marie, 1, with Alyssa Scott. Cannon and Scott also shared son Zen, who sadly passed away at just five months old in December 2021 due to brain cancer.

Cannon’s shocking confession comes after Diddy was arrested in Manhattan on September 16, 2024, after being indicted and charged with racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Diddy remains in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after being denied bail multiple times.

Combs pleaded not guilty to federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges following his arrest at the Park Hyatt New York hotel. In his proposed $50 million bail — signed by Combs, his mother, and several family members — were the conditions that he be released to home detention with GPS monitoring to ensure he’s not a flight risk, and he agree to weekly drug testing and the keeping of a visit log to be submitted nightly to pretrial services. He also would not have access to a cell phone or internet.

Perhaps another reason Cannon’s age confession had been so shocking is because people are reeling following attorney Tony Buzbee’s announcement that 120 more alleged victims of Diddy would be stepping forward, the youngest of whom is just 9 years old. Since the news, a lot of eyes have been on Diddy’s former proteges, like Usher and Justin Bieber.
