Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo Switch Online service will be getting another classic Rare Nintendo 64 platformer, Banjo-Tooie, which will be coming on October 25, 2024. Subscribers of Nintendo Switch Online get access to a wide variety of games, with an even larger library available for those who upgrade to the Expansion Pack tier. Nintendo has been maintaining this tier by adding new games every month, with Banjo-Tooie being the next title joining the service.
Banjo-Kazooie was introduced to the Nintendo Switch Online service in 2022, with many gamers glad to see Rare’s bear and bird on Nintendo’s console after years of being an Xbox exclusive title. Since then, some of Rare’s N64 titles, like Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark, have also been added to the service. Many fans expected that other classic Rareware titles like Banjo-Tooie and Conker’s Bad Fur Day would make an appearance as well.

When Is Banjo-Tooie Coming to Nintendo Switch Online?
As the sequel to Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie is considered much larger than its predecessor in terms of the world’s scale, where they are physically connected to each other at multiple points. Banjo-Tooie is still the same collect-a-thon as its predecessor, having roughly the same amount of collectible items as Kazooie but hidden behind more complex puzzles. Banjo-Tooie also features a multiplayer mode, where players can compete in a deathmatch-esque mode.
With these factors put together, Banjo-Tooie is considered one of the best platformers on the Nintendo 64, though whether it is better or worse than its predecessor is a contentious topic among fans. Regardless, many are glad to see Banjo-Tooie on Nintendo hardware again. The NSO port marks the first time that Tooie has been released on a Nintendo console in nearly 24 years since its original N64 launch back in 2000. With Banjo-Tooie now a part of the NSO service, many are hoping that Donkey Kong 64 and Conker’s Bad Fur Day will also make the jump to Switch soon as well.
