NNPH announces new partnership to boost fitness in women

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Northern Nevada Public Health is announcing a new partnership with Kindred Health Coaching to promote fitness in women.

Anything but the Gym is a four-week fitness program that introduces 150 minutes of physical activity as recommended by the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, and includes weekly:

  • Achievable home-based exercise routines
  • 30-minute health coaching sessions
  • Educational materials, weekly newsletters, and healthy recipes
  • Community support to build healthier habits

“NNPH is pleased to support this initiative as it helps individuals overcome common barriers that may prevent them from achieving optimal health and wellbeing,” said District Health Officer Chad Kingsley. “This initiative is available to all women and helps individuals prioritize physical activity, which is key in reducing the risk of developing chronic diseases such as diabetes, stroke, and heart disease, which is the No. 1 cause of death in Washoe County, the state, and the nation.”

The program is currently available at no cost to residents of Washoe County for a limited time. Those interested are asked to fill out and send an interest form here.

“I created Anything but the Gym after my own struggles with chronic illness,” said Norma Kea, Founder of Kindred Health Coaching. “Surviving a stroke in 2020 and regaining my health inspired me to help other women achieve their health goals. Anything but the Gym offers the guidance and support people need to be successful and can be done from the comfort of their home whenever they have time during the week.”
