No. 12/13 Chanticleers Travel to Creighton for Two-Game Series – Coastal Carolina University Athletics

CONWAY, S.C. – The No. 12/13 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will travel to Omaha, Neb., for a two-game midweek series with the Creighton Blue Jays at Charles Schwab Field Omaha on Tuesday, April 23, and Wednesday, April 24 with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. ET for both games. The game will be streamed on FloBaseball or fans can listen live on WRNN 99.5 Hot Talk.

ABOUT THE CHANTS
• Coastal Carolina enters the week 27-12 on the year and 11-7 in Sun Belt play, having won the series with then No. 14 Louisiana.
• Coastal has hit 65 home runs on the season with Blake Barthol and Zack Beach tied for the team lead and are 49th in the NCAA with 14 bombs while Graham Brown has added 11 blasts.
Sam Antonacci leads the team with a .408 batting average, 39 walks, and hit-by-a-pitch 17 times to get the offense started from the top of the lineup. He has reached base safely at least once in every game played this season for a team-high .573 on-base percentage.
• Defensively, the Chanticleers are fourth in the NCAA and lead the Sun Belt Conference with 42 double plays turned.
Oliver Ellison has made 11 appearances and four starts with two being midweek starts. He has an ERA of 4.88 having given up 15 runs on 36 hits while striking out 17 batters.
 
ABOUT THE BLUE JAYS
• Creighton enters play at 28-9 overall and 5-4 in the Big East Conference and has dropped two straight games.
• The Blue Jay pitching staff has allowed 33 home runs and has struck out 322 opposing batters and issued 219 free bases. Batters are hitting .258 against Creighton.
• Creighton is hitting .301 and has hit 38 home runs, 15 triples, and 82 doubles for 293 RBIs.
• Nolan Sailors (.390), Teddy Deters (.333), and Colby Canales (.306) lead the Blue Jays at the plate. Sailors is the only batter hitting .390 and leads the team with a .638 slugging percentage and .508 on-base percentage.
• Deters leads Creighton with eight home runs, while Sailors and Canales have added six long balls.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES HISTORY WITH CREIGHTON
• The Chanticleers lead the overall series at 4-1 with the Blue Jays on the diamond, with Coastal winning the 2023 regular season series 2-1 at home.
• Coastal won the first four meetings with all five games having been played in Conway, S.C.
• The Chants and Creighton first met in Conway, S.C., in April 2009 with Coastal winning a pair of one-run games, 8-7 and 1-0.
• This will be the first time that Coastal has returned to Omaha since the Chanticleers won the 2016 NCAA College World Series.
