Colorado School of Mines is back in the win column.
No. 18/20 Mines used a powerful running game to beat New Mexico Highlands 56-21 in Las Vegas, N.M., Saturday. The Orediggers (7-2, 5-2 RMAC) had 491 rushing yards, including 210 yards from Braelon Tate.
Tate also scored a pair of touchdowns. Four Orediggers’ rushers scored touchdowns. Mines had 658 yards of offense one week after falling to Western Colorado in Golden.

Joseph Capra made his first start at quarterback and went 12-for-20 for 126 yards passing and two touchdowns. He also ran for 80 yards. Mines got a lift on special teams with Aksel Richard scoring a kick return touchdown, the first such score for the Orediggers in 14 years.
New Mexico Highlands (2-7, 2-5) was led by wide receiver Teneil Nichols, who had 165 receiving yards on eight catches.
Tate was the first Oredigger to exceed 200 rushing yards since Michael Zeman in 2021. Mines did not have to punt in the game and its 658 yards of offense marked a season-high.
Mines plays at CSU Pueblo next Saturday.
