Norman city leaders have unveiled plans for a new entertainment district at Evans Hall.

On Wednesday, leaders from the University of Oklahoma, Cleveland County, and the City of Norman met to elaborate on the future of the proposed Norman Entertainment District.

According to officials, the proposed entertainment district will help create new jobs, and drive economic growth, bringing significant benefits to Norman citizens and the entire metro OKC region. It would include a new multi-purpose performance venue, restaurants, retail shopping, offices, housing, and other quality-of-life amenities to position Norman as a major regional destination.

City leaders said around 80 percent of the development’s cost would be paid through private investment, including a significant commitment by the University of Oklahoma. As far as the remaining 20 percent, it would be paid through public sources.

No funds would come from the city or county general funds, and the public would not see a tax increase.
