North Pitt High School teachers receive surprise supply shopping spree
Each week we showcase two schools and what they’re doing off the field in our Academic Showcase brought to you by The United States Air Force.
Teachers at North Pitt High School were greeted with boxes full of supplies in the school cafeteria, thanks to a generous initiative by Mullins International and the Pitt Community College Men’s Basketball Team.
“I buy things almost every week, so this is a great help,” said Brienna Swinson, a teacher at North Pitt High School. “I’m always spending money at least every other week on something, whether it’s pencils or somebody might need a new notebook or whatever, so it’s a great help.”
Mullins International purchased items from each teacher’s wish list, while the basketball team assisted in delivering the supplies to classrooms.
First-year art teacher Isabel Jackson expressed her gratitude, saying, “I know I asked for a lot, but I didn’t expect everything to be bought for me, so this is going to be great. I’m excited.”
North Pitt Principal Maurice Harris emphasized the positive impact of the donation.
“As a principal, I make sure that teachers have everything they need to be effective in a classroom to ensure that my students are getting the best education possible,” said Harris. “Whenever a group can come and give supplies to help support that, that makes me very, very happy. My teachers are happy and very grateful for what has happened today.”
