November in Cleveland means sports fans are laser-focused on… the Cavaliers
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Cleveland is a Browns Town but now fans seem to be switching gear, from brown and orange to wine and gold as Clevelanders have a new favorite team.
“I gotta say Cavs,” said Meghan Hunt. “I feel the hype. I feel a little bit of the energy.”
“I would have to say we’re a Cavs town,” echoed Todd Tzuray.
“The Cavs have brought such an energy to the city that it’s good to see,” said Jay Mazzone, going for three. “It’s something that I think is pretty cool.”
The Cavs have started the season 15-0, breaking the franchise win streak of 13 set during the LeBron eras and becoming only the fourth team in NBA history to win 15 straight games to begin the season.
“I think it’s a Browns town,” said Patrick Fay. “I’m a diehard Browns fan personally, but obviously the season is not going well so the Cavs are undefeated.”
“We’re a football town through-and-through,” Tzuray continued. “As soon as the Browns have a winning record, the Cavs are second-best unfortunately, but I would say with the Cavs now it’s very similar to the last championship run and the hype is definitely there.”
“The Browns, I mean, everyone loves ‘em, they got a long leash,” said Mazzone. “But when the Cavs are playing the way they are, you can’t look away from it.”
But Clevelanders are nothing if not hopeful, especially Browns fans
“There’s always next year,” said Fay. “For better or worse. Always.”
But now Cavs fans are the optimistic ones.
“Twenty and oh seems pretty awesome,” said Tzuray.
The Cavs face a big test Tuesday when the play the defending NBA Champion Celtics in Boston as part of the NBA’s in-season tournament.
