SWEET FIFTEENTH: A nude Cara Delevingne carrying an XXL Falabella bag starred in Stella McCartney‘s latest campaign, celebrating the 15th anniversary of the original vegan fashion “It” bag that has been all over street-style snaps since its introduction in fall 2009.
Named after the designer’s favorite species of pony growing up in the British countryside, the Falabella has been loved by major pop stars like Rihanna, Beyoncé and Kate Hudson.
The style has also been reinterpreted season after season with innovative materials such as the plant-based animal leather alternative Mirum, Vegea, a grape by-product from Italian wineries, and Yatay, a textile made from agricultural waste and recycled fibers. All Falabella bags feature a monogrammed lining made of ocean plastics and are hand-laced with organic cotton rope.
It has also been the star of campaigns starring Natalia Vodianova and Amber Valletta, with special editions reimagined by Urs Fischer, Gary Hume, Hajime Sorayama and Disney.
The Falabella bags are vegan down to the glue, the brand said.
Toasting the 15th anniversary, a series of global activities is planned under the name Falabella Stellabration.
There will be four limited-edition styles — adorned with fringes, lead-free crystals and silver studs, respectively, or made with crackled silver metallic — for the occasion as well, available worldwide online and in-store beginning Thursday.
