NVIDIA Blackwell gaming GPUs are set to launch for both desktop and laptop platforms. Even though we saw plenty of leaks regarding the desktop SKUs, the info on the mobile variants is quite limited. We recently reported on the next-gen RTX 50 series laptops by ASUS, revealing the VRAM capacities of each card, but the core count, GPU die, complete VRAM configuration, etc., are still unavailable.

With such specifications in sight, it is typically easier to estimate the performance of a GPU, and while we don’t have any solid leaks about it, the leaker Golden Pig Upgrade from Weibo revealed that the GeForce RTX 5060 laptop GPU will be equivalent in performance to the previous-gen RTX 4070 laptop GPU. Take this leak with a grain of salt due to no substantial evidence, but he is a well-known leaker whose leaks have come out to be accurate about various next-gen PC hardware.

If that’s true, the RTX 5060 mobile variant is going to be fast enough to max out most games at 1080p resolution and can also play a lot of games at 60 fps at 1440p. One shouldn’t expect it to be flawless since it’s going to be equipped with 8 GB VRAM, similar to its predecessor. The VRAM configuration is likely 8 GB GDDR7 on a 128-bit bus, equivalent to RTX 4060 and 4070 mobile SKUs, except for the memory type where the latter GPUs feature the relatively older GDDR6.

The GDDR7 memory, featured in RTX 50 laptop GPUs, runs relatively faster than the GDDR6 and helps to drastically increase the memory bandwidth. One should expect around 507 GB/s of memory bandwidth on the RTX 5060 laptop GPU, which is almost twice the memory bandwidth of 256 GB/s on the RTX 4060 and 4070 laptop SKUs, but yet again, this is just an assumption for now.

One should also keep in mind that even though the RTX 5060 laptop GPU might match the performance of the RTX 4070 laptop GPU, it still might be close to the RTX 4060 laptop GPU as well, given that there’s little performance difference between mobile GPUs. Given that information around NVIDIA’s RTX 50 “laptop GPUs” is a bit confined for now, we will have to wait and see how the lineup evolves, since right now, the industry is all focused on desktop variants.
