The two-year wait is over. O2 Fitness Club will open its Winston-Salem gym on Saturday.
The nearly 30,000-square-foot 02 Fitness center is in the former SteinMart at Thruway Shopping Center. The manager is Brittany Miric.
Hours are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekends.
O2 Fitness unveiled its plans for the Thruway location in May 2022. It has spent $4 million on the site, including extensive interior and exterior work, and a custom mural. O2 Fitness worked with Winston-Salem architect Stitch Design Shop.
The Thruway location will feature more than 150 pieces of fitness equipment, including treadmills, ellipticals and stationary bikes with a free-weight section and several functional spaces.

O2 Fitness said it has sold 75% of its charter membership availability, which includes access to the premier-level club and reduced monthly dues. The offer expires after Aug. 20.
“We have loved serving the Triad and we have been looking for the ideal location in Winston-Salem for years,” said Jessica Martin, 02 Fitness’ regional vice president.
O2 Fitness now has a center in all four Triad urban cities: Greensboro’s Friendly Center, High Point’s Palladium Shopping Center and Burlington’s New Market Square.
O2 Fitness enters a crowded Winston-Salem fitness market.
There are at least 17 fitness centers and clubs within a 10-minute drive of O2 Fitness, including an Orangetheory Fitness at Thruway.
Others nearby include YMCAs, national chains such as CrossFit, LA Fitness and Planet Fitness, franchise groups such as CycleBar and smaller clubs.
O2 Fitness officials say they believe they will attract customers not only with its diverse fitness offerings, but also with special incentives.
For example, members receive two free sessions with an O2 personal trainers and are encouraged to follow-up with trainers for complimentary sessions each month to help track improvement and refine movements.
Each O2 Fitness has high-end performance flooring for classes, such as BodyPump, Zumba and O2’s custom classes.
There’s a mind-body room for yoga and barre classes, more than 2,200 square feet of athletic training turf, a cycling studio, and space designed specifically for small group training.
That space will be open to members during off-class hours, but will also host high-intensity-inspired small group training sessions throughout the day.
The club has locker rooms with showers, saunas, steam rooms and lounges, along with personal trainers, physical therapists and registered dietitians.
The Thruway location will feature a co-working space, a Kids Club area, a location for O2 Fitness partner Renew Physiotherapy and lounges.
“As more offices move remote, we love the idea of our co-working spaces and Kids Clubs providing more freedom to our members,” said Justin Mascho, an O2 Fitness senior vice president.
Other features are a Renew Physiotherapy and Wellness clinic, a Loop Nutrition dietitian service.
