Year 3 under Brent Venables and the first year for Oklahoma football in the SEC had not gone as planned to enter Saturday’s game against Alabama.

However, the Sooners flipped the script with a dominant 24-3 win over No. 7 Alabama in Norman to clinch bowl eligibility and keep alive the second-longest streak in the nation. Sooners QB Jackson Arnold passed for just 68 yards, but the Oklahoma defense pestered Heisman Trophy hopeful Jalen Milroe to shut down the Alabama offense.

Xavier Robinson scored two rushing touchdowns for the Sooners, while Kip Lewis returned an interception from Milroe for a 49-yard touchdown in the third quarter to effectively put away the game. The Sooners sacked Milroe once but forced four QB hurries, had two pass breakups and three interceptions, and even forced Milroe out of the game for a play.

The three points were Alabama’s fewest since Oct. 2, 2004, when it lost 20-3 to South Carolina.
